Today, you had the entire class period to read your articles, highlight them, and fill out your chart!  You will have all day Monday and about twenty minutes on Tuesday as well.  Your charts will be due on Wednesday.  Homework:  Charts due Wednesday

After we did a Thursday Thunder Warm-up, I explained the rubric and answered questions.  You had the remaining class time to print articles in the lab.  Homework:  NONE!  You will have plenty of class time to read and highlight your articles.

PRINTING OUT ARTICLES

LANGUAGE ARTS & AC LANGUAGE ARTS

Today, we went to the lab to print out articles.  We will be in the lab tomorrow as well.  Homework:  Make sure you have a MINIMUM of five articles by Friday morning. 

Research Expectations:

• You will become an expert at your topic.  You will answer your "essential question" you found on SIRS.
• To become an expert, you must read a minimum of five sources.  You will highlight the pros and cons. 
  
• You will fill out your information on the chart provided in class  Download Research Chart--final
• After your chart is filled and your articles are highlighted, you will present your findings to the class in a short one to two minute presentation.
• All of your information must come from SIRS
• Make sure you have a variety of information----don't repeat yourself!

We enjoyed some Tuesday Tunes as our warm-up today!  Then, we spent a few moments talking about the expectations for the research unit.  Finally, you had more time to practice reading articles for important information.  Homework:  Topics due tomorrow.

• Friday----highlighting articles and filling out your chart
• Presentations will be at the end of NEXT week.

We took the Health Survey.  After the surve, you had time to look around on SIRS for your topic.  Finally, we started practicing research together as a class.  Homework:  Find your topic by Wednesday.  It must be approved by an adult (Costello, Montalvo, or Carswell)

For our warm-up, you were given a set of directions to follow.  You could not ask any questions.  The goal was to complete the task in fifteen minutes!  Good job to those of you who completed the task!  Afterwards, we went to the Media Center for a research lesson.  Homework:  Start looking at CVL.

HELP----CLEANING SUPPLIES NEEDED

Parents,

My "sanitizing" supplies are dangerously low!  I sanitize the desks and surfaces in the room at least twice per week in an effort to avoid germs making their way into your home and mine.  I welcome any supplies you are willing to donate to my classroom!  I love the Lysol or Clorox cleaning wipes!

After our Thursday Thunder warm-up about transitive and intransitive verbs, we did some more paraphrase practice.  We focused on citing sources today.  Finally, we played a new game---Encore!  Homework:  NONE!
